Mary, Help of Christians is a special title of the Blessed Virgin Mary that reminds us she is always ready to help us, her children when we are suffering.  The title Help of Christians goes back to the earliest days of the Church.  In fact, the oldest prayer in honor of Mary refers to her as the Help of Christians.  The early Father of the Church referred to Mary as the "helper" of Christians in their writings, encouraging others to seek the help of Mary.  Saint John Bosco loved Mary under the title of Help of Christians.  He dideciated his entire life and work fro the Church to her.  Saint John Bosco had a large church built in honor of Mary, Help of Christians, in Turin so that others could come to Mary and ask for her help.  The image there shows Mary as the Queen of Heaven holding Jesus.  Her arms are open, waiting for us to come to her, our Mother!
