"St. Nicholas was born into a very wealthy family.  As he grew, he gave his wealth to the poor and became a priest.  Later, he became a bishop.  During this time, many Christians were being persecuted for their beliefs, but St. Nicholas stood strong.  There are many stories of St. Nicholas giving to families who needed it.  One story tells of a poor father who needed money to pay for his three daughters' weddings.  It is said that St. Nicholas left three bags of gold pieces, one for each daughter, in stockings by their fireplace.  St. Nicholas loved the baby Jesus.  St. Nicholas is now known as Santa Claus.  He is the patron saint of children, and his feast day is December 6th."
