Early Antique Wood Carved and Painted Figure
This is a great antique Figure, I am told he is from Italy and may be a religious figure or an Italian mannequin.
The figure has detailed painted face and head. It looks like a european style carved and painted face.  Though you can still see his features, much of the paint that has worn over the years.  On the back of his head is a bald spot and a hole where maybe a hat was afixed at one time
This figure has some cloth remnants on two arms, a sleeve on one arm and the front of a jacket on his front. There is a remant of some fragile brown fabric and some padding that was attached at one point. He must have beautifully dressed at one time.
His lower legs are wood and painted to go with the outfit that he wore at one time and he has great carved black shoes like the other figure I have listed.
His body, upper arms and upper legs are made of some kind of fabric or straw that is tightly bound.
The lower arms and hands are beautifully carved and so expressive.  They are just beautiful as is his lovely face.  I tried to highlight these aspects in the photos.
He also has great black shoes which look like they would have a buckle on the sides.
It looks like the lower part of the arms and hand can disconnect from the wood arms
His supported on a small box stand for display.  On the box he measures a large 19" tall.  Overall, even with the damage to the paint and finish, he is in beautiful early antique condtion and is a great antique display figure.
