This is a very distinct specimen of a fossil shrimp. This is Carpopenaeus callirostris from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, nice specimens from this site are difficult to obtain. This large shrimp is well preserved and exhibits fine detail - the head, segmented body, and tail of the shrimp are clearly defined. Even the long legs, pointed rostrum, and antennae are quite evident! The colorful fossil is wonderfully showcased and beautifully displayed on the large plate of sublithographic limestone. This is an extremely displayable example of a complete Carpopenaeus shrimp from the Middle East, fossilized during the Time of the Dinosaurs!
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen. FREE SHIPPING in the USA!
