This
is a very nice plate of fossil shrimp from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. There are two fine specimens of Carpopenaeus callirostris well displayed on this slab. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. These shrimp are well preserved and exhibit good detail. The heads, segmented carapaces, tails, and legs of the arthropods are clearly defined. The distinct shrimp are beautifully showcased on the large plate of sublithographic limestone. This is a very fine pair of NATURAL fossil shrimp from the Cretaceous of the Middle East.
