. Most EZ pliers are injection molded plastic. These are metal. I carry one on a zinger (retractor) for knot tying and holding the lead fly as I tie on the dropper. These are useful for:
Holding flies (by the hook) while photographing them
Holding and wrapping hackle (the ring rotates easily around your finger as you wrap the hackle)
Displaying flies on your desk or fly tying bench
Holding comparison or model flies to compare as you tie
Holding hooks to check measurements as you tie.
With a zinger, holding the lead fly while you tie the dropper to the bend. A little bit of tension on the fly makes all the difference.
