Description
Foerster Defectometer H 2.835 Eddy Current Tester for NDTThe Foerster Defectometer 2.164 and 2.835 are probably the most sensitive
eddy current test instruments ever made for crack detection.
When I worked on the 2.837 Dr. F. Foester came into my office
after I worked on the development for three months and asked
if I was able to improve it from the 2.835.
My answer was "yes" on the digital presentation,
"no" on the analog circuitry he had designed.
His response: "I thought so". Classic!
He deserved more than a few pats on the shoulder.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, newer instrument use impedance
plane analysis to use phase and amplitude to evaluate signal
responses and achieve better flaw characterization.
Makes analog meter instruments almost obsolete,
except to those that still want the most sensitive.
And yes, Defectometers are still in use today and so are their
probes.
This instrument is used, but it still works and is still as sensitive.
I had to replace the A/C-supply (9V, tip is Negative).
The battery chamber is corroded.
It comes with several probes, two of which were made in Germany
a long time ago (calibration probes). The others were made
in the US. The cable still works, but is a bit noisy.
The probes alone have a sales value of over 00 if purchased new.
The reference standard does not come with it, everything else in the pictures does.
Everything works, but its sold as is, no warranty.
Email me for instructions on how to use it. I don't have
the manual, but I can email you how. Its easy.
