Bottom is sanded and unfinished. None of these live edge pieces I make ever turn out "perfect." Some have a little cloudiness in areas of the finish and some just have just general imperfections, hence being called Rustic. These are beautiful- you don't need me to tell you that, but they have some flaws. If a perfectly assembled piece of woodwork is what you're after, these might not be for you. All of the wood used here was from a local mill here in the Sierra Nevadas called Tahoe Slab Furniture. They collect old walnut trees from orchards in the central valley of California that are turning over the land. They mill the wood on site and dry it in their kilns in the Sierra foothills. You can check out some of their work on insta @TahoeSlab. Overall this project has a really low carbon foot print compared to commercial lumber that travels seas.
