Transducer AM2R-8X9-45 Ultrasonic PanametricsFixed Tilt Sensors for Shear Waves
Characteristic AM2R-8X9-45
Inclined transducers are used to control thin objects when the dead zone of conventional direct transducers interferes with the reception of the bottom signal. They turn out to be useful in identifying and evaluating the dimensions of vertically oriented defects, since they make it possible to determine their equivalent and conditional sizes.
An inclined transducer with a prism angle between the first and second critical values emits a generally vertically polarized transverse wave. If we assume that the longitudinal wave in the prism is flat, then a transverse wave with vertical polarization should be excited in the OC, since in the incident longitudinal wave in the plane of incidence, oscillations occur only in this plane. However, the wave in the prism is not perfectly flat; there is a divergence of rays in it. As a result, in OK, in addition to the transverse, a longitudinal wave is also observed, the more intense the prism angle closer to the first critical one.
