Description
Similar in style to the infamous "Nick Drake" M-20 which is all mahogany this is a spruce top with a bit of a brighter sound than it's mahogany counterpart.I've read that Drake actually borrowed that guitar for the album photo-shoot but it's widely associated with him and therefore the reference.
This is a one owner guitar that was bought new and now I've recently acquired it from the family who are friends of mine.
This guitar has a beautiful bell-chime ring when played in a medium picking fashion and has a nice sustain. This isn't a guitar you would want to play
for bluegrass or any aggressive style music. It has more of a lyrical voice and all of the notes ring evenly up and down the fretboard.
This guitar was loved and played and shows wear but not much. The most obvious is some case wear on the underneath of the treble side of the guitar
and the finish is worn to a bare wood along a lot of the back of neck with a satin feel. I like it almost better than a lacquered neck. It feels natural because it is.
The frets are true and barely worn. The neck is straight and very easy to play. The bridge has been reset and there is evidence of over-spray in that area but it's really not very noticeable. Take a look at the photos. Everything blends rather well to the eye. This guitar is pretty much everything you would expect from a Guild from this era that was in the house most of it's whole life and played by a woman who played folk and light pop music for her own and family's enjoyment. There was even set list scotch taped to the side like Paul McCartney's Hofner Bass. It had been on there for years and I felt odd about removing it but have gently cleaned the area.
The case is a basic, seemingly non original chipboard that is clean and will work well for shipping.

***To answer the question about the nut. I believe this to be the widest option at 1 and 11/16ths. The same as the favored pre-1964 Gibson width***
