This unsigned hand carved wood sculpture is just under 24” tall.  The widest part of the figure is about 3.75” x 3.5”, and the base is about 4.5” x 4”.  It’s impressive that the figure and base are carved a single block of wood, with the base painted black.  The elongated figure of Mary and texture carved into the clothing gives it a unique appearance.  There are a number of dings to the wood, most notably to the top of the head.  The base has some worn areas in the paint and a couple of chips to the bottom corners.  The bottom is not perfectly level, but good enough for a wood carving, and could be made even with a thin piece of felt.
