**DESCRIPTION** Here we have a hand made, hand painted gesso over wood statuette of the crowned Virgin Mary. While she is clearly older with many signs of natural age, I believe she is a mid 20th century reproduction of an older victorian form, due to some signs of age that appear to be created. However I am not sure of that and she may be older.
I  am uncertain of her country of origin. She was purchased from a collection of Catholic art and objects in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at an estate sale, but I was unable to find out much about her, other than the sellers had purchased her many years ago.
She is sold as found for her beauty and vintage wear and condition.
**CONDITION** This piece is in good rustic vintage condition. She has many spots of paint loss to her painted gesso surface chipping. She also has a dark patina, some of which appears to have been applied purposefully. She also has a repair to her crown where one the points was broken and glued back. I have only gently wiped her surface to remove some dust. These conditions are, my opinion what gives character to this piece, and lends her an ancient air, and are presented as features not flaws.
