Home made in the USA.2 Whip finisher's, 7 1/4" X 2 1/2" and 5 1/8" X 1 1/2"
2 sizes to chose from with a gap width of 2 1/2" inches and 1 1/2" overall length of 7 1/4" and 5 1/8".
Used a Dry fly hook size 18 wrapped with one hackle to do the pictures of demonstration and my smallest whip finisher.
I could not find a Whip Finisher I liked here in the US, so through watching You Tube videos I seen one that I liked. I looked over here and only found it in Europe where the shipping and price was high. I can make my own and with a little experimenting I was able to make them in various sizes. From 1.25 inches to 6 inches for the gap, with an overall length that varies. 4" to 11"
What I liked about it is that when wrapping the thread around the hook the spring collapses with the tension of the thread being wrapped 3 to 6 turns around the hook, then with an easier release by flexing the arm off the thread to finish by pulling the thread loop closed. The ones I found here did not flex so the thread had to be left loose enough to let the thread slide through. With this style the thread can be wrapped much tighter with 3 to 5 turns, anything past 6 plus turns will make it too tight and the loop will not slide through the tight turns, unless you have strong thread.
